About

Hi, I'm Astrid (she/her), owner and blogger at The Wandering Daughter. As a mother to three children, I fully believe in the educational and transformational power of travel. I'm here to help families learn how to worldschool with their kids and travel more responsibly in this world.

If you're curious about the topics I cover in this blog, start here.

My hope with this blog is to inspire you to take your kids out into the world and start exploring.

Slow-traveling around the world

In 2018, my family and I decided to embark on an around the world adventure. We were yearning to learn about the different cultures of the world and see the various natural wonders our world has to offer. So we put our house up for rent, packed our bags, and set off on our adventure.

Our family makes full-time travel work by working remotely and homeschooling our kids. This lifestyle has its ups and downs, but what we've gained from it all is a deeper connection with each other.

In sharing our travel experiences with you on this blog, I hope you can gain a deeper connection with your family too through travel.

Travel as a rewarding and memorable experience

The more I travel with my kids, the more I realize that it is one of the most rewarding and memorable experiences I've ever had.

Our family has trekked through both the jungles of Costa Rica and the halls of the Louvre. We've eaten at street-side stalls and fine dining restaurants. We can count to ten in at least three different languages. And we can generally navigate our way through both metropolitan cities and small towns.

Travel challenges us to step outside our comfort zone. But it also rewards us with new experiences and new insights in our lives. I'd love to help your family create these types of experiences and gather insight too.

That's why I created The Wandering Daughter. I strive to instill the spirit of travel in families and kids, in the hopes that we'll create a future generation of world explorers and adventurers. Thanks for joining me on this ride!
